2010 OPBPOA Committee Info
The committee oversees and contracts for park maintenance which is funded
through a portion of your annual dues. The committee also raises funds to
improve the park located at Maroneal and Morningside. Recent renovations include
the completion of the wrought iron fence around the park perimeter, new play
space for younger children, swings, picnic tables, and benches. The Old
Braeswood Park Corporation was formed in 2002 as a non-profit, 501c3
organization for the purpose of raising tax-deductible funds for the park.

This committee, in conjunction with the Park Committee, organizes the annual

Trees for Old Braeswood (Carroll Shaddock, Chair)
This committee oversees the Old Braeswood’s street tree planting program, which
seeks to systematically replant each street in Old Braeswood with a variety of
tree species. The program is in conjunction with Trees for
Block Captains / Welcome Committee (Dawn Gervais)
This committee welcomes new neighbors to Old Braeswood and provides them with
helpful information about the neighborhood and the civic club. Block captains
serve a vital role in communication with the neighborhood. For more information

Security (Ryan Maierson, Chair)
The committee is responsible for the annual distribution Patrol flags. Committee
members serve on the RACS Patrol board, attend monthly meetings with HPD, track
crime statistics, and distribute flags to RACS supporters annually. Ryan

Newsletter (VACANT)
The Newsletter chairperson assists in preparation and editing of the quarterly
Old Braeswood News.
Flood Control & Environmental Coordinator (Carroll Shaddock, 713-661-6106)
Provides short articles for the newsletter relating to flood, drainage and
environmental issues pertinent to Old Braeswood. The Coordinator also provides
brief announcements and updates at semi-annual POA general meetings, attends the
monthly meeting of Braes Bayou Association, quarterly meeting of the Willow
Waterhole Greenspace Conservancy, and semi-annual breakfasts hosted by Project
Brays.
Historic Preservation (Susan Teich, 713-839-7234)
Serves as neighborhood historian and provides information on preservation to
interested residents. |
